There is: ada
There are: ada
There is or there are is used to explain something exists or is in certain location. (there is atau there are digunakan untuk menjelaskan keberadaan sesuatu atau berada pada suatu posisi).
1. Use there is when the noun is singular (menggunakan there is untuk kata benda tunggal/satu)
Example: there is a cat (ada seekor kucing)
2. Use there are when the noun is plural (menggunakan there are ketika kata benda jamak/banyak)
Example: there are two cats (ada 2 ekor kucing)
Cats s yang bergaris bawah menunjukan banyak.
3. Use there are when you are talking about ‘ a lot of’ something (menggunakan there are ketika kamu bericara tentang sesuatu yang banyak). A lot of artinya banyak.
Example: there are a lot of people in this elevator (ada banyak orang di lift ini)
4. Use there is when the noun is uncountable noun (menggunakana there is ketika benda tidak bisa dihitung
Example: there is some milk in the refrigerator (ada beberapa susus di dalam kulkas)
Benda yang tidak bisa dihitung: milk, water, sugar, rice, sand, wind, oxygen, air, hair, fur, juice.
Negative form (bentuk negatif)
Ø There is not an apple in the basket (tidak ada sebuah apel di dalam keranjang)
Ø There is not any sugar on the table (tidak ada gula diatas meja)
Ø There are not twenty students in the class (tidak ada 20 siswa di dalam kelas)
Not tanda negatif. Terletak setelah tobe (is/are)
Introgative (kalimat tanya)
Ø Is there an apple in the basket? (apakah ada sebuah apel di dalam keranjang?)
Ø Is there any juice in refrigerator? (apakah ada jus di dalam kulkas?)
Ø Are there twenty students in the classroom? (apakah ada 20 siswa di dalam kelas)
To be ( is/are) terletak di awal kalimat untuk kalimat tanya. Artinya apakah.
